In 1848, building work began on the Paracuellos de Jiloca Hotel Spa. In 1875, the Cortadillas family found another spring when they bought an estate close to the original site, and later built a second spa. As a result, there were "Los Baños Viejos" (the Old Baths) belonging to Felipe García and "Los Baños Nuevos" (the New Baths) belonging to the Cortadillas family, which competed against each other until they merged in the early twentieth century.

The spa then experienced somewhat of a 'Golden Age' as it became one of the most renowned and famous resorts in Spain, popular with many members of high society.

This Golden Age was unfortunately cut short by the Civil War; "Los Baños Nuevos" were used as a hospice and the building was partially destroyed in an unfortunate incident. It then fell into decline, a period that lasted until the early 1970s, when "Los Baños Viejos" were renovated under the ownership of Manuel Acero. Then, in 1975, the Soria family took over the reins and ever since have been working tirelessly to keep this natural wonder alive.
